Best pet cameras (2026)
A pet camera is a webcam with a marketing department. The job is: you are not home, you want to know whether the dog is on the couch or in the drywall, and you might want to toss a treat you will later vacuum.
We ranked cameras US owners can buy without a custom NVR, with a skip-if on the subscription. Scores are editorial. We did not rate night-vision in a lab. Public hardware and plan ranges are dated September 20, 2026.

The short list
Buy Furbo if you want a treat-tossing pet-first camera and you will pay for the cloud extras you actually use. Buy Petcube if two-way audio and a treat or laser story matter and you like that app. Buy a Wyze or Blink if the job is “a camera in the living room” and you refuse a pet-brand tax. Skip any cam that hides the subscription until the unboxing. Skip treat tossers if you have a food-guarding dog or a cat that will unplug the thing.

Furbo 360 / current Furbo dog camera
Furbo is the pet-camera people mean. Treat tossing is the toy. Barking alerts and a wide view are the job. It wins when you will actually open the app in week four, not when you wanted a cheaper Wyze with a cartoon bone.
- Best for
- Dog households that will use barking alerts and an occasional treat toss
- Skip if
- You want a $35 cam, or the dog resource-guards food from the air.

- Built as a dog cam, not a hallway cam with a pet filter.
- Treat toss is real — for dogs that find it rewarding, not stressful.
- Wide / 360 SKUs reduce the “I pointed it at the wrong couch” problem.

Petcube Bites / Play
Petcube is the other pet-first name. Bites tosses. Play lasers. Neither is a veterinary device. Buy it if you like the app and the room layout matches a cube on a shelf, not if you wanted Furbo’s barking story and got a laser pointer instead.
- Best for
- Two-way talk plus a treat or laser, including some cat households
- Skip if
- You already standardized on another camera brand and will not open a second app.
Price note: Bites-class hardware often about $130–$200. Care / cloud plans vary. Confirm the current SKU — Play and Bites are different toys.
Why it is here
- Treat and laser SKUs are labeled as different jobs — use that.
- Two-way audio is the feature people actually keep.
- Works as a cat cam if you accept that lasers are optional chaos.
Watch-outs
- A laser is enrichment for some cats and a 2 a.m. sport for others.

Wyze Cam (current indoor)
Wyze is the honest “this is a camera” pick. You lose pet-brand theater. You gain a price that lets you put a second unit on the crate. If the job is separation curiosity, start here before you buy a $200 snack launcher.
- Best for
- A living-room camera at a grocery-adjacent price, no treat tax
- Skip if
- You specifically want barking AI and a tosser in one object.
Price note: Indoor Wyze cams commonly list about $20–$40. Cam Plus is optional. That is the point.
Why it is here
- Cheap enough to fail without a eulogy.
- Good enough night video for “is the dog on the bed.”
- Fits an [apartment dog stack](/articles/apartment-dog-stack) without eating the electronics budget.
Watch-outs
- Pet detection is a software extra, not a Furbo clone.
- Privacy is your router and your password. Treat it like any cheap cam.

Blink / Amazon indoor cams
Blink is the ecosystem pick. Fine if the house already speaks that app. Not a reason to switch ecosystems for a pet. Battery cams die when you forget them — plug-in is kinder for all-day pet watch.
- Best for
- Households already in that ecosystem who want a second pair of eyes
- Skip if
- You refuse Amazon hardware, or you need a treat tosser.
Price note: Indoor Blink units often $30–$80 per cam depending on the kit and battery vs plug-in.
Why it is here
- Syncs with a setup you may already have.
- Price sits with Wyze, not with Furbo.
Watch-outs
- Clip-based battery cams miss the boring hour the dog is quiet.
- Official storefronts move. Buy the current indoor model, not a leftover outdoor floodlight.

Phone on a tripod (honorable mention)
The honorable mention is a dry run. Use an old phone and a video-call to yourself. If you never open it, you do not need Furbo. If you watch the whole shift, buy a real cam and retire the phone.
- Best for
- A weekend test before you spend $200
- Skip if
- This is your only phone and you will leave the house.
Price note: Free if you already own the phone. A cheap stand is $10–$20.

- Tells you whether the job is real.
- Cheaper than returning a tosser.
Watch-outs
- A phone overheats and falls. Do not aim it at a crate door as a hinge.
- Not a substitute for a sitter if the dog is in distress.

How we scored pet cameras
The job is a live picture plus audio you can stand. We weighted app honesty, whether treat/laser extras are optional, subscription clarity, and whether a renter can mount it without a drill.
We do not score “AI pet emotion.” If a brand leads with that, we look harder at the skip-if.
Cloud plans
Live view is often free. History, person/pet alerts, and cute weekly montages are usually not. Furbo and Petcube sell pet-shaped plans. Wyze and Blink sell generic ones. Compare year-one totals the same way we do for Fi vs Whistle.
If you will not rewind footage, do not pay to store it.
Placement
Put the camera where the damage happens: crate, couch, or door. Do not point it at a blank wall because the shelf was convenient. Keep cords off chewing height — see the puppy stack.
A camera is not a GPS collar. If the dog left the yard, you need a radio, not a wide-angle lens.
