Farmer’s Dog is worth it when you want pre-portioned, gently cooked food, you will store it frozen, and the monthly quote for your dog’s calories is a number you can pay in month seven — not just during the trial box.

Worth it: small and medium dogs on households that already cook for themselves, hate measuring cups, and will not flinch at roughly $100–$250/month depending on the dog.
Not worth it: giant-breed full-fresh on a grocery budget; people who wanted a topper (Farmer’s Dog does not sell a half plan — that is Ollie); anyone using food as a diagnosis.

What you are buying
You are buying a subscription that ships frozen packs labeled for your dog’s plan, plus the operational load of thawing them. You are not buying a laboratory, a vet visit, or a guarantee that itch disappears.
Recipes are positioned as complete and balanced on a full plan. That is the same legal-ish job kibble does when kibble is labeled complete and balanced. The difference is moisture, portioning, and price per calorie — not a halo.
Customer-facing extras (packaging, an app, the ability to pause) are why people stay. They are also why people get angry when a box misses a heat wave. This is a logistics company that happens to cook.

There is no honest single monthly price. Weight and calories dominate. Shipping is typically included in the subscription story. Taxes are not a mystery fee so much as a location fact. The first box is frequently discounted or trial-shaped. Rank the second box.
Compare against kibble honestly: a Purina / Hill’s / Royal Canin puppy or adult bag is often tens of dollars, not hundreds. Farmer’s Dog is worth that gap only if the household values the food form enough to keep paying it.

You have freezer drawers that are not theoretical.

When it is not worth it
You wanted half-fresh. Farmer’s Dog will not meet you. Go to Ollie or buy a complete kibble and add a topper your veterinarian is fine with.

You travel constantly and the pet sitter is a teenager with a key. Kibble is kindness.
