A home grooming kit is clippers, a blade or comb set, a brush, and a plan for nails — not a suitcase of mystery attachments. The job is: a sanitary trim or a coat you can live with between salon visits, without cutting a dog who needed a vet or a professional.

Andis is what a lot of groomers already own. Home kits exist. The upgrade is the motor and the blade ecosystem. If you have a doodle you refuse to salon, this is the honest invoice.

How we scored kits

Coat types and skip-ifs
Double coats are not a reason to shave to the skin because a cooling mat existed. Ask a groomer. Doodles mat at the armpit — brush on a schedule or pay. Wire coats have a different conversation (hand-strip) that a home kit will not invent.
