Best cat trees for large cats (2026)
A large-cat tree is a climbing object that does not taco when a 15-pound body lands. The job is: a base wider than the leap, sisal they will actually use, and platforms that fit a stretched Maine Coon-class cat — not a 16-inch particleboard stick from a studio ranking.

Floor-to-ceiling sisal (honorable)
A tension pole with real sisal is vertical without a coffee-table footprint. Install until it does not walk. Recheck after a heat wave. Not a perch for a nap the size of a Maine Coon unless there is a platform.

- Renters who can tension a pole and cats that climb like firefighters
- Skip if
- Textured ceilings, wobbly install, or a 20-pound cat on a dollar-store spring.

How we scored large-cat trees
Base area, platform size, sisal they will use, and whether the brand still exists. Height was a bonus, not the headline. We did not certify a 22-pound cat.
Base, sisal, platforms
If the base is smaller than the top, you bought a lever. Place on a rug with a pad or on a wall. A scratcher next to the sofa still matters — the tree is not the only sisal. Interactive toys after they hunt.
Apartment cats may still want the slim ranking if the cat is large but the room is not. Do not punish a studio with a Mau you cannot walk around. First-time owners: a sturdy post plus a perch can wait on the six-level condo.
