Best interactive cat toys (2026)
An interactive cat toy is a hunt you can end with a catch. The job is: move the cat so they do not move the curtains, then let them win a real object — not a laser dot that never dies.
We ranked toys US owners can buy from a brand site. Scores are editorial. Public prices are dated September 20, 2026. Strings and feathers are foreign bodies if swallowed. Supervise. A scratching post is still the sofa’s best friend.

The short list
Buy a wand toy you will actually wave, then a Catit-class circuit or puzzle for solo time. Buy Petcube Play if you wanted a remote laser and you already read is Petcube worth it. Skip leaving strings out. Skip twelve battery toys that scream at 3 a.m. End sessions with food — a [slow] meal or a scatter. The kitten stack is two toys, not fourteen.
The ranking
01
A wand / teaser you will use
A wand is interactive because you are. Ten minutes, let them catch, feed. Catit and other cat-first brands sell teasers; the brand matters less than the habit. Hide it between sessions so it stays special.
- Best for
- Almost every cat household as the first interactive object
- Skip if
- You will buy it and leave it in the closet.
Price note: Decent wands commonly $8–$20. Replacement feathers are the product.
Why it is here
- You can end the hunt.
- Cheap enough to replace when they behead the feather.
Watch-outs
- String left out is dental floss surgery. Put it up.
- Kids swinging at faces is a different sport.
Product buttons currently go to official manufacturer sites. Amazon Associates and Chewy slots are empty until partner IDs are added — we will not invent them.
02
Catit circuits / tracks
A ball track is the solo default. Fine. Loud on hardwood at night. Place it where you can stand the sound. Not a substitute for a wand.
- Best for
- Solo batting when you need a shower
- Skip if
- The cat only plays if a human moves.
Price note: Tracks often ~$15–$40.
Why it is here
- A named catalog with spare balls.
- Works next to a [tree](/reviews/best-cat-trees-small-apartments).
Watch-outs
- Batteries in “auto” versions die and then scream. Prefer unpowered first.
- Multi-cat: two tracks or a fight.
Product buttons currently go to official manufacturer sites. Amazon Associates and Chewy slots are empty until partner IDs are added — we will not invent them.
03
Food puzzles / hunt-feed
A puzzle feeder is interactive calories. Scatter or a simple maze. Wet food wants a lick mat, not a ball track. Sensitive-stomach cats still need the clinic’s bag, not a harder puzzle.
- Best for
- Indoor cats that inhale and then riot
- Skip if
- They guard food or you feed a prescription mash that will not puzzle.
Price note: Puzzles often $10–$30.
Why it is here
- The catch is dinner.
Watch-outs
- Frustration is not enrichment. Start easy.
- Calories still count.

04
Petcube Play / remote laser
A laser from another city is a toy and a tease. End with a tossed treat or a wand when you get home. Petcube vs Furbo.
- Best for
- Remote play when you already wanted a camera
- Skip if
- The cat only spins and never catches. That is the skip.
Price note: Play-class hardware ~$130–$200 plus cloud. See [treat cameras](/reviews/best-pet-cameras-with-treat-dispenser) for hoppers.
Why it is here
- You are not home. The cat is.
Watch-outs
- Eyes. Do not aim at faces.
- 3 a.m. parkour off the [scratcher](/reviews/best-cat-scratching-posts).
Product buttons currently go to official manufacturer sites. Amazon Associates and Chewy slots are empty until partner IDs are added — we will not invent them.
05
Battery mice that scream and laser-only lives (skip)
This slot is a no for unattended screamers and laser-only “exercise.” Buy a wand. Catch. Feed.
- Best for
- Nobody who likes sleep
- Skip if
- You will end the hunt with a catch.
Price note: Often $12–$25 until the battery hatch is a snack.
Why it is here
- Named so you skip the six-pack.
Watch-outs
- Button batteries are an emergency.
Product buttons currently go to official manufacturer sites. Amazon Associates and Chewy slots are empty until partner IDs are added — we will not invent them.
How we scored toys
The job is hunt plus a catch. We weighted whether a human can end the game, swallow risk, and a brand that sells refills.
Let them catch it
Predators who never catch get weird. Two or three short sessions beat a 40-minute tease. Outdoor is not the only enrichment. Indoor first-time homes need this stack more than a catio manifesto.
